Offers Halogen-Free Flexible Electrical Conduit
 Electri-Flex Company announces the availability of its complete line of
halogen-free flexible electrical conduit. The halogen-free, liquidtight conduit
is ideal for applications in which fire may be a concern and materials must be
free of the caustic effects of halogen as products of combustion.
Offering four different types of halogen-free conduit, this line provides a
range of safe choices for applications in which standard liquidtight PVC conduit
would generate toxic fumes and caustic smoke if burned. Installations include,
but are not limited to, rapid transit stations, transit vehicles, tunnels,
subways, air handling equipment, and mines.
Electri-Flex’s Type ATX halogen-free conduit, designed to withstand
extreme temperature ranges, uses a thermoplastic rubber (TPR) jacket over the
flexible steel inner core. It is designed for use in -60°C to +150°C conditions
and has a flammability rating of UL 94HB. Type CEA is designed for
confined spaces such as tunnels, in -40°C to +80°C conditions. It is
constructed with a specially formulated Polyurethane jacket over the steel inner
core that is flame retardant, with low-smoke characteristics. It also comes in
a lightweight version, Type ACEA, produced with an aluminum inner
flexible core, for applications where weight is a consideration. The Type
ZHLA utilizes the same jacketing and performs under the same temperature
ranges as CEA, but also conforms to UL 360 and carries a UL Listing. Type
CLFR is part of Electri-Flex’s Corrlok® 100% Nylon corrugated conduit,
tubing and connector line. It is UL Recognized, self-extinguishing, and
exhibits low-smoke emissions. Types CEA, ZHLA, and CLFR comply with ASTM E162
and ASTM E662 requirements, and meet the SMP 800-C test standard.
