Electri-Flex Core Values | Family

Electri-Flex has long been described as being a family, but what does that actually mean within the Company and to its partnerships in the Industry? Today the Company is run by the 3rd generation Kinander family, starting with their grandfather in 1955, Harold Kinander, Sr., then their father, Harold “West” Kinander, Jr., and Bruce Kinander, to today, with Jason Kinander, CEO, Blue Kinander Kelly, VP, and JR Kinander, VP. But that’s not the only reason as ‘family’ seems to extend to the employees, often being referred to as extended family, with many in the Company holding an astonishing lifetime tenure.

Sitting down with Blue Kinander Kelly, VP & Owner, we took a quick look into what ‘family’ means to her when she thinks of Electri-Flex.

“With our grandfather starting the business, we learned from the ground up, and as a Company, that we’ve mastered the importance of the meaning behind dedication and hard work, and what that means for everyone here. And I think with the word family, we’ve really carried that over into our workforce and all the wonderful people that work for us. Our employees call it a work family because we’re very close, we honor the hard work and the love and compassion that everybody has for Electri-Flex. And I think that really defines the word family.”

Many employees have been with the Company, for 5, 10, or 20+ years, how does this longevity contribute to the culture of Electri-Flex?

“Well, the number one thing that stands out is that with longevity, that means they understand the process. They understand what goes into making a family business profitable, successful, and likable. They understand everything that goes into not only manufacturing, but also how we conduct our marketing, our sales, and growth. And growth and longevity go hand in hand with one another. We are grateful to have employees with us for three, four, and even five decades, and their longevity shows that we invest in what we truly believe to make a successful family business.”

When you think of family values, how do you think those influence Electri-Flex?

“We believe in hard work, tradition, compassion, treating our employees with great care, and being very fair, and generous. When employees see leadership’s community efforts and join in, I think that shows our Company values. We give back to the community, we give back to our industry. I think those values alone carry a long way for a very successful company.”

Electri-Flex prides itself on having a positive and supportive environment. How has that translated to our partnerships and customers?

“We have a tremendous amount of loyalty to the industry. Our grandfather, father, and uncle were all about relationships. We have so many longstanding partners in our industry that we have known for many decades, it has definitely helped translate into partnerships and customers. We have longstanding customers, and sometimes you’re going to have some business aches and growing pains, but we’ve gone through those pains together because we trust one another in what we’re trying to achieve on a daily basis. And the partnerships that we have formed, not only in our industry but also in our community, have really made Electri-Flex stand out.”
